Flash, a-ah, Masters of Divinity!
by Jeni
Graduation was a few weeks ago already and I'm still feeling pretty masterful. It's a little auspicious to be a Master (or, in my case a Mistress) of Divinity, but so far I'm managing quite well. Plans for the year that lies ahead take up most of our time. Here's where we are:
June 25-July 19
→ Michigan and Ohio for an ordination, visits and a super rad preaching conference.
→ See Josh Ritter at the Varsity Theater and be made very very happy.
→ Spend time Uppadalake, finally!
→ Watch Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince
July 20
→ Leave MSP
July 21
→ Arrive in Nairobi
July—mid-September :: Nairobi, Kenya
September 15
→ Bus from Nairobi to Arusha
Mid-September—December :: Arusha, Tanzania
December 16
→ Fly from Nairobi (Kenya) arrive in Tel Aviv
→Arrive in Tel Aviv and take a bus to Jerusalem
Christmas—Pentecost :: Jerusalem
June 1
→ Fly to Istanbul
June and July 2009 :: Christian Communities in Europe
→ visit west coast cities prominent in the NT, especially in Paul’s travels in Turkey and Greece
→ Rome and Assisi, Italy
→ Budapest, Hungary
→ Wittenberg, Germany
→ Copenhagen, Denmark
→ Taizé, France
→ Edinburgh, Scotland
Late July 2010
→ Arrive home in MSP
For now, we've been injected 5 times (with only one more to go), taken the proper typhoid pills, and have most of our prescriptions in hand for the coming year. We've picked up our airplane tickets, arranged housing and have shared many African meals -- a tasty foretaste of the feast that awaits us.
The next three weeks will witness the packing of 30+ boxes of books and whatever else we have managed to fit into our tiny apartment. And some think that getting an MDiv doesn't require too much brain power! Nevertheless, we'll put that old noodle to good use as we figure out how to say goodbye, pack everything away, make final plans and finally, head out.
That reminds me, onto my reading list for the next year. Any suggestions?
