What a Gentle Wind

by Daniel

This morning I rolled out of bed to a subtle, gentle breeze. Wait—make that gale force winds. I looked out my kitchen window at the balcony of my apartment to make sure my new toy (my grill) was safe and sound. I admit that I thought it was a little cool that the tarp covering my gas-grill was shredded like the mast of a pirate ship (ala the Black Pearl), but I’m upset because I now need to buy a new one. It also appeared that someone “egged” our balcony, but it turns out that the wind assisted in emptying several pigeon (winged rat) nests all over the place. It looks like an omelet out there. Gross!

So, what’s new? I secured a position as a teaching assistant for the summer, but I won't be payed for it (insert sad trombone sound effect here). I made a cameo appearance at the student versus faculty softball game tonight. I didn’t stay for the whole thing, but what I saw was entertaining. Can someone tell me who won? Oh – and here’s a question for those of you who were there: How did you like those dust storms? I had a couple “Wizard of Oz” moments. Well, I certainly hope that everyone had a good time—whether you were a player or spectator. Yes, embrace the moments while you can. It’s t-minus four days for the seniors. Have a good night.
