In the beginning...
by Daniel
January term has begun! I’m using this term to learn as much as possible about teaching general biblical coursework as possible. My “Genesis to Revelation” course with Dr. Koester will be an excellent opportunity to learn some of the ropes about condensing the Bible as a whole into a few weeks. We definitely blew through all fifty some chapters of Genesis in three hours. You would think that this would be pretty easy to pull off--but it was almost painful to skip over all sorts of amazing topics and concepts...or at least fly through them. In all seriousness...most religion professors (in an undergraduate context) will at some time have to teach an “Introduction to the Bible” or some sort of really general intertestamental class. You know...I’ve been studying the Bible for quite some time now and it never occurred to me how difficult it is to condense it into a few class sessions. I guess I’ve got a few things to learn from my colleagues. Isn’t it great that at this stage in the game you can call them that? I love it. Anyhow – I’m off to bed. I’ve got the whole sweep of Exodus, Leviticus, and Deuteronomy tomorrow afternoon.
