Senioritis!

by Daniel

There’s been a lot of talk recently about swine flu, but there’s something far more dangerous for seminary students. And what is this epidemic of which I am speaking? Senioritis! Has senioritis kicked in for you? With only a few weeks of class left it can be hard to pay attention. I have no excuse - I'm graduating, but I'm still here for two years for an MTH program! There are a lot of distractions this time of year. Surely, all of the big life “changes” that will be occurring for many of us don’t make things easy(CPE, internship, calls, graduation, graduate school, jobs, and job hunting). Yikes. I can feel the stress now. The weather doesn’t help either! Well…the weather today wasn’t too much of a distraction (unless you forgot your umbrella). It rained cats and dogs.

Speaking of dogs—I’ve been considering getting another dog. My iguana, Peapod, passed away last night. It was just a day ago that I was getting him some new sticks to climb. He was my dear friend for about four years (it would have been four in June). There’s something about seeing an empty terrarium in my room that makes me feel a little bit empty inside (much like the terrarium). Peapod wasn’t the same pet that I started with (that’s for sure). As he matured into an adult green iguana he started to become mean, but I loved him nonetheless. He was a fighter, but I still thought of him as my green son. I think my fiancé is slightly relieved (wouldn’t you be). Do you think I should replace him with a ball-python? Hah. Oh well.

I hope you have been staying dry today. I wish the best of luck to everyone who has been getting ready for bigger and better things. Have a wonderful evening.

-Dan
