Inauguration

by Jeni

What a way to come back to the Luther Seminary Community! Colin and I (still on California time) woke up and headed to NW 100 to watch the Inauguration of President Barack Obama. The place was packed! Students, faculty and staff nearly filled the room to capacity to watch, sing, pray and cheer and even tastefully criticize the nation's liturgy of saying goodbye to one president and saying hello to a new one.

The fine folks in the communications office took photos, so keep watch on luthersem.edu for the images.

What was really cool was all of the international students who were there, some taking photos and video and some silently watching. Margaret, my fellow blogger, wore a kikoy (like a sarong) with the visage of Barack Obama. At the moment of swearing in -- or, shortly thereafter, Margaret waved it around and displayed it around the room. All of the international students greeted me with kind congratulations.

So begins the presidency of Barack Hussein Obama.
