Busy as a Bee!

by Daniel

It’s been a little while since I’ve taken a “time out” to blog. I have to say that quite much has happened over the last week and a half. Who would have thought that this seminarian would have some actual noteworthy news to relate? Who knew?

The week was inaugurated by excitement. I gained a niece. My older brother (Tom) and his wife (Roxanna) welcomed a healthy baby girl (Ariana) into our family. I won’t be able to make the baptism, however, because they live in Vicenza, Italy. Regardless, I am overwhelmed with joy for them! Miraculously, the baby was completely healthy and “normal”— her amniocentesis had revealed the possibility of illness. Roxanna, however, was strangely calm about the situation and had the conviction that “everything would be alright.” This world is truly beyond our comprehension.

Among other news— I started working as my friend Michael’s teaching assistant at North Central University in Minneapolis. (I even got my own name card and everything!) I am overwhelmed with joy at the opportunity to “give back” to someone who has been such a wonderful influence and inspiration to me over the past few years at seminary. I’m also quite pleased to have the opportunity to do what I love doing—teach.

I’m still working hour after hour every day designing my hypothetical “Introduction to the Bible” class for Dr. Koester. The amount of work that goes into creating curriculum is unimaginable. It is not, however, a “chore.” I haven’t had this much fun working on a class project in years. I’ve pulled a few all nighters completely by choice! Who knows? I might do it again. Have a wonderful week.
