Experiencing MPLS Community
by Tim K. Snyder
Over the weekend, many of us from the DL Cohort explored parts of the cities and got to visit area congregations for worship. On Saturday we participated in our Boundaries Workshop and then a group of us headed out to the Russian Icons exhibit at the Russian Art Museum. Sunday, many went to morning worship at various congregations. After breakfast with Jen, Susan, and Christina we all headed to Dr. Mary Hinkle Shore's place for her Open House. We enjoyed the company, the chance to relax and the delicious cider (really I think that stuff had something divine in it). After the Open House I joined up with my friends Heathlynn and Jason Hamilton-Chronis to worship at House of Mercy - an emerging community that my friend Russell pastors. It was a beautiful worship of old timey, classic bluegrass/folkish music - two versions of Amazing Grace in one night - and a pretty good sermon on just how good of an idea was it for Jesus to give the drunks more wine at Cana. Afterwards we headed to Cafe Latte for soups and espresso. It was a beautiful time away from campus (though I totally love my cohort members ; ).
